To Sir, with Love

To Sir, with Love

By Kanupriya, dept Mass Comm. P.U.

A little girl loved her drawing classes as much as she loved her drawing teacher. She had 100% attendance in the subject. One fine day the drawing teacher asked all the girls to draw the picture of their prince charming. The little girl drew too. She drew a handsome lad with a rose in his hand. But since the little girl was little, she coloured the rose blue instead of red, pink, yellow or any other usual colour. When the arts master saw it, he didn’t comment on it. Instead he gave a beautiful smile the one that the little girl cherished.
Encouraging her he said, “So little girl, one day a prince charming would come to you with a blue rose in his hand and he will be your groom.”
The little girl just blushed and started waiting for him. Then the little girl grew up and now was a young girl. But for her arts teacher, she was still a little girl.
On her 18th birthday, she was waiting for her drawing master to come and bless her but instead came the news of his death in an accident. The little girl went to his funeral where she was given a folded paper, which her master had left on his deathbed for her. She opened it. It was her drawing of prince charming with the blue rose and at the back was written….
To little girl,
I know you are waiting for a prince charming with a blue rose in his hand. When you were young, I said that he will come, because I thought when you would grow up you would know that there is no blue rose. But it seems that my little girl is still a little girl. So grow up little girl and find a handsome groom for yourself.
Take care. Your teacher.

This made the little girl; more sad. A part of her told her to do as her drawing teacher had told her yet another part did not allow her to leave her hope. Years went on. Now the little girl is 26. She is at her teacher’s grave with a letter in her hand, which she is hoping her teacher would read where ever he is……..

To Sir,
I miss you, sir. I have found my prince charming. He did come up with a blue rose at last. He is a handsome lad with blue eyes and rose as his middle name. Tomorrow we are getting married. Bless me sir…
(I came across this piece in the newspaper,The Tribune and loved it.)
